Waterbus lines for Certosa, how to get there from Venice city center and tips for buying tickets
Certosa island can only be reached by waterbus (vaporetto) or water taxi. By waterbus, the choice of line depends on your starting point in Venice. The island features a nautical center with a marina capable of hosting hundreds of boats and a hotel.
At night, you cannot reach Certosa by public transport.
• From Venice to Certosa: Line 4.1 and Line 4.2 every 20 minutes from various stops in the historic center.
• From Certosa to Venice: Line 4.1 and Line 4.2.
Both lines stop at Certosa only upon request to the sailor or by booking via telephone. To book your boarding, call the toll-free number 800845065 at least 20 minutes before.
Below are the lines for Certosa from strategic points in the Venice historic center.
• From Piazzale Roma and the Station: Line 4.1 every 20 minutes (from 6:18 AM to 7:38 PM) from P.le Roma in 38 minutes and from the Station (from 7:14 AM to 7:34 PM) in 42 minutes.
• From St. Mark's Square: Line 4.1 every 20 minutes (from 6:41 AM to 8:01 PM) from San Marco San Zaccaria E platform in 15 minutes.
• From Fondamente Nove: Line 4.2 every 20 minutes (from 6:01 AM to 8:41 PM) from Fondamente Nove D platform in 17 minutes. Afterward, Line 5.2 every 60 minutes (from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM) from Fondamente Nove D platform to Certosa.

How long does it take to get from Venice to Certosa?
Travel time varies greatly depending on the departure point. It takes 38 minutes from P.le Roma, 42 minutes from the Station, and 15 minutes from St. Mark's.
Which waterbus line goes to Certosa from Venice?
Line 4.1 and Line 4.2. Line 5.1 and Line 5.2 stop at Certosa only in the evening.
Can I use the 75-minute ticket to go to Certosa from Venice?
Yes. A 24-hour ticket is only recommended if you are starting from the islands of Torcello, Burano, Mazzorbo, and Sant'Erasmo.
Can I arrive at Certosa from Venice at night?
Yes, but only until a certain time. The service is limited in the evening and night hours; after 9:00 PM, trips are less frequent. The last trip from the historic center (Fondamente Nove) is with Line 5.2, which arrives at Certosa at 00:16. After this time, there is no more public transport and you must rely on a water taxi.

Connections from Certosa to other the other islands
• To Murano, Burano, Mazzorbo, and Torcello: to reach these islands, you must first arrive at the Fondamente Nove stop in Venice. Line 4.1 every 20 minutes (from 6:56 AM to 8:16 PM) to Fondamente Nove D in 18 minutes. Then Line 12 every 20/30 minutes (from 4:20 AM to 10:25 PM) from Fondamente Nove A platform arriving at Murano or Mazzorbo; from here you can walk to Burano across a bridge. Line 12 only stops at Torcello from 4:20 AM to 8:40 AM and from 5:40 PM to 10:25 PM (but some trips stop at Torcello only upon request to the sailor or by telephone booking*). During the day, you can reach Torcello from Burano with Line 9 (from 9:30 AM to 5:45 PM) in 5 minutes.
Return with Line 12 to Fondamente Nove. Then Line 4.2 every 20 minutes (from 6:01 AM to 8:41 PM) from Fondamente Nove D platform in 17 minutes with a stop at Certosa on request. Afterward, Line 5.2 every 60 minutes (from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM) from Fondamente Nove D platform to Certosa.
• To Sant'Erasmo and Le Vignole: Line 4.1 every 20 minutes (from 6:56 AM to 8:16 PM) to Fondamente Nove D in 18 minutes. Then Line 13 every 60 minutes (from 4:25 AM to 10:40 PM) from Fondamente Nove D platform. It takes 18 minutes to Le Vignole; for Sant'Erasmo, it depends on the stop: between 28 and 47 minutes. Return with Line 13 to Fondamente Nove. Then Line 4.2 every 20 minutes (from 6:01 AM to 8:41 PM) from Fondamente Nove D platform in 17 minutes with a stop at Certosa on request. After that, Line 5.2 every 60 minutes (from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM) from Fondamente Nove D platform to Certosa.
• To San Michele (Cemetery): Line 4.1 every 20 minutes (from 6:56 AM to 8:16 PM) to San Michele Cemetery in 24 minutes. • To Lido di Venezia: Line 4.1 every 20 minutes (from 6:56 AM to 8:16 PM) to the San Pietro di Castello stop in 3 minutes. Then Line 5.2 (from 7:04 AM to 8:41 PM) to Lido S.M.E. B platform in 9 minutes. Return with Line 5.1 (from 6:22 AM to 8:22 PM) from Lido S.M.E. A platform to the San Pietro di Castello stop in 10 minutes. Then Line 4.2 every 20 minutes (until 8:55 PM) in 3 minutes. Important: Line 5.1 every 60 minutes (from 8:36 PM to 11:36 PM) also stops at Certosa.
• To Alberoni, Pellestrina, and Chioggia: Reach Lido di Venezia (see the previous paragraph).
